That was a question I got last weekend at the market. A man who had just purchased some vintage clothing items at a neighboring vendor approached my booth, stood in front of the rack of upcycled and revamped garments, and asked me what I had for men.

Because I'm relatively new at all of this (retail, markets, design, fashion, apparel), I'll admit I was taken aback. In my mind, any human can wear the clothing in the Membery collection.

Flummoxed, I called his attention to these items:

He glanced through the pieces, then got distracted by his friends. They all hung out in my booth for a while, but no one ended up buying anything.

Some of you may read this story and think that I should have (or could have) done a more aggressive pitch. You might be right. I am still in research and learning mode on all of this.

My takeaway? I need to refine my positioning. If Membery is for all genders then that's the answer. This clothing is for all humans.
